Oral History of Bobby Le
Bobby Le is a second-generation Vietnamese American born in 2001 who currently works as a biotech research associate after graduating from UC Berkeley. Growing up in San Jose, he navigated a household shaped by financial hardship and linguistic complexity, speaking Vietnamese with his immigrant parents while using English with his siblings. Despite years of formal Vietnamese schooling, he maintains a self-assessed fourth-grade fluency level and has occasionally felt disconnected from both Vietnamese and American social circles. Ultimately, Bobby embraces a hybrid identity, maintaining a primarily American day-to-day lifestyle while preserving deep cultural roots through his family, community, and personal heritage.
