Oral History of April Le
April is a 21-year-old senior at Santa Clara University studying ethnic studies. She was born in Santa Clara and grew up in East San Jose, where she's lived her entire life. Her parents immigrated to the U.S. separately—her father came in 1997 through the humanitarian operations program (his father was a re-education camp prisoner), and her mother immigrated through marriage in 2003. Both parents are professionals: her father works in mechanical engineering, while her mother, despite having an architecture degree from Vietnam, works in the nail industry due to credential recognition barriers.
