Oral History of Khoi Le
Khoi Le, a 26-year-old second-generation Vietnamese American, describes his upbringing in the Bay Area, including his educational background, family history, cultural traditions, and sense of identity. He grew up in diverse communities in Santa Clara and Los Gatos, attending experimental schools and later Stanford University. Khoi's parents immigrated to the U.S. As teenagers, and the family maintained vietnamese cultural practices while also embracing american traditions. Khoi feels a strong connection to his Vietnamese heritage but acknowledges the privilege of his family's educational and socioeconomic status, which differs from the experiences of other Vietnamese Americans. Overall, Khoi's narrative provides a nuanced perspective on navigating dual cultural identities as a second-generation immigrant.
