Oral History of Christine

2nd Gen Oral History - Christine

Christine is a 32-year-old Vietnamese-American woman from San Jose, California, currently training to become a veterinary oncologist. She grew up speaking Vietnamese at home with her immigrant parents and had a complicated relationship with her heritage as a child, but has come to embrace her Vietnamese identity more as an adult. Moving to more homogeneous Midwestern areas for school made her Vietnamese heritage an important source of pride, and she's now eager to return to the Bay Area and pass her cultural traditions on to future children, while acknowledging the generational challenges that come with it.
